The story follows the time the great painter took to work on his political mural Guernica, about the destruction of the Basque town in World War II.
Picasso "is a character that has pursued me for a long time and I always rejected," Banderas told El País, the Spanish newspaper, adding that he was born four blocks from the artist’s home. The film will be shot in both French and Spanish.
Last seen in Steven Soderbergh’s action thriller Haywire, he was the voice of Puss in Boots and starred in Pedro Almodovar’s The Skin I’m In. Banderas will also play Castro in the upcoming Castro’s Daughter. — AFP-Relaxnews
